Remodeling Continues into July

Below are some highlights of the work in July; click here to read what happened in June.

Week 9

The City inspected & approved the framing work Monday of this week! The next day lots of drywall was loaded and, by Saturday July 3rd, essentially all the drywall was hung in the ballroom, bathrooms, and cabaret.

The project is now past the original “45 day” estimate the general contractor told us. Workers started on site for 7 weeks (when the A/C was disconnected) and the building permit was issued 9 weeks ago. D’oh! We’re now told the sprinklers won’t be installed until the 15th. Double D’oh!

Week 10

The drywall was mudded and sanded this week and, with the help of some volunteers on Saturday the 10th, we made the first pass at vacuuming up the mess. It will take several passes to get the dust out of and off of everything. A railing for the ADA ramp was welded in and almost finished (the poor the guys were welding while outdoors in the 92+ degree sun!). They also began the work of re-connecting AC units for the ballroom and cabaret, and installing a new AC unit to service the lobby.

Week 11

Fire alarms are in all over the lace; hand rails installed (ones you can actually lean on!) and some drywall “oversights” were corrected.

The big items we’re still waiting: sprinklers, water-main reconnect, bathroom fixtures, and the wiring to be finished (including a new big main breaker box). Oh, when will it end!!

Week 12

No slide show this week. Only electrical work was done — wiring, switches, etc. — so I don’t have any interesting photos.

Week 13

Delays, complications, and general hassles all week long. We’ll be back to work next week.
